2 Types of Cleaning

When it comes to keeping a house clean, sometimes you need a little help. You have a lot going on in your day, and there are only so many hours. This is why so many people turn to a cleaning service for help. But when you’re looking for the right cleaning service, do you need a regular cleaning or deep? Do you even know the difference? Read on for all the details so you can decide what level of service would make your life easier.

Regular Cleaning

Hiring a cleaning service for routine cleaning would mean that they do what most people would consider the weekly tasks. This is a maintenance level of cleaning, meaning that once the home is relatively clean, the regular, routine cleaning tasks keep it at that level. Usually, this includes vacuuming and mopping the floors and tidying and dusting the rooms. It also includes cleaning the bathrooms, including the toilet, shower, sink, mirror, and other surfaces. Finally, most regular cleaning services will also include the kitchen, including emptying the trash, wiping down the covers and the outsides of appliances, and dealing with the sink. These tasks are the essential items that are needed to keep the home tidy. For a professional, they don’t take all that long to complete.

Deep Cleaning

A deep clean is a more intensive type of cleaning service. The deep clean is usually needed when you first contract with a service, and then every six months or so after that. The deep clean takes longer to complete, and it tends to be more expensive than regular cleaning service because it covers more areas. The deep clean will dig into areas that general cleaning services don’t get to, but the result is freedom from dirt and grime. Deep cleaning often includes removing soap scum and limescale from showers, taps, and tiles; thoroughly cleaning appliances like the washing machine or the oven, including behind them if they slide out and any vents like the dryer vent; dusting hard-to-reach surfaces, like the door frames and ceiling fan blades; and washing windows. When you call a cleaning company, ask them what they cover in their deep clean. More than likely the deep clean will vary based on the needs of your particular house (for instance, it may not make sense to clean your oven if you’ve only had it for a month or so). Once you have your deep clean, the service should be able to maintain that level of clean with regular visits for at least six months.
